5 great lessons l learnt from my granny

Every single one of us has a granny & if you are one of the luckiest individual your granny might be still alive like mine. This year she is turning 82 years & lots of us don’t manage to reach that age due to this & that. These are 5 lessons l have learnt from her & l hope they are going to bring value into your life:

1. Don’t listen to your body
l spent the majority of my early teen with my granny. Every morning she would wake me up before 6am preparing to go to school & l would take several minutes just rolling on bed because my body would not allow me get up. Sometimes she would just pull out the blankets & scream loud, "Joe don’t listen to your body, you will achieve nothing in life by doing that!" l took that lesson even to every single area of my life & it actually worked. She always told me stories of how sleeping too much will result in poverty. Listening to your body always results in laziness & procrastination & you will achieve nothing in life if you let it become a habit.

2. Be independent & don’t settle for less
After she divorced her husband because he had brought a second wife, she moved from rural area & travelled to the city alone. She became independent & she did not settle for less due to her strong values & knowing what she wanted in life. She is the type of lady who doesn’t borrow money from anyone because she do her own things. Sometimes you can just help her maybe to wash her clothes & gardening because she is now old but she can still doing it alone: be independent.

3. Be an entrepreneur & keep expanding
When she arrived in a city, she did not start to look for a job but she started her business of selling fruits. She saved money, re-invest the profits & she expanded her business to traditional products. The funny thing about my granny is that she does not have any educational background & she never attended Harvard Business University but she can read, write & calculate her profits.

4. Be a philanthropist & expect nothing in return
The art of giving is a concept l learnt at young age from granny & sometimes l wonder why she does not go broke. She has a beautiful heart & she is not stingy with her assets. To understand how big is her heart: her children, grandchildren & grand grand children were all sent to school by her. What you give is what you return : every time l visit her business she will be eating or drinking something for free because her customers & friends always come with free gifts because they appreciate her character & heart : law of exchange.

5. Have goals & strong desire to succeed
You can’t achieve anything in life without a plan & direction. My granny would not be doing what she is doing if she did not have goals & desire to succeed. She started from the bottom & made it to the top without anything. Her parents died before she was a teenager & she had to take responsible of taking care young family members at very young age.

In conclusion: I believe one day I will write a biography book about her because I believe her full story can touch & inspire millions of people.
