Power of imagination

Recently l was travelling from Joburg to Pretoria with one of my esteemed friend, having a discussion about life. We ended up having a conversation about imagination vs knowledge; freely exchanging insights. He had a perspective that knowledge is more important than imagination whilst l was supporting that imagination is more important than knowledge.

Generally, imagination can be defined as the ability to form a mental image of something that is not perceived through the five senses. It is the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, objects or events that do not exist, are not present, or have happened in the past. Imagination is not limited only to seeing pictures in the mind. It includes all the five senses and the feelings.

Why is imagination important?

1. Imagination solves any kind of problem

Everything that you see right now or anything has been created by mankind: clothes, Facebook,  skyscrapers etc began in the mind of someone as imagination before they became reality. Today we have sinks in our home because someone was tired of walking down to the river with a bucket. Imagination succeeded where years of education and knowledge had failed. Imagination is a secret to solve life challenges because it gives you the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view, and to mentally explore the past and the future.

2. Imagination gives you innovation & unfair advantage.

Every time before l perform at events, l imagine people giving me applause or screaming my name &  it surely happen. Every woman l have dated, l began dating her in my imagination until l could not be able to separate imagination from reality. You want to have more customers than your competitors? How about imagining using five senses every day a long que of customers waiting to get inside your shop to buy your products? I am using imagination to gain more followers on facebook & twitter. Imagination is underestimated by human beings, but it surely works. Almost everything l have, do or being in my life resulted from using my imagination intentionally.

3. Imagination highlight the future.

Albert Einstein once said Imagination is everything & It is the preview of life's coming attractions. There are lot of times in my life l have used imagination against myself. I still remember when l was working at a certain firm in Pretoria, South Africa: l began to fear, worried & imagine myself getting fired. It didn’t take more than two weeks before l was fired. A developed and strong imagination does not make you a daydreamer and impractical. If you develop your imagination into another level: it can change your whole entire life. Surely l use the power of imagination daily in my life including sound imagination & the majority of beats  l have produced, l heard them in my imagination.

4. Imagination is the creator

It is the creator of circumstances and events. We use our imagination every day, every hour, every minute whether consciously or unconsciously. Whenever you plan a wedding,a holiday vacation,or  visit a friend, we will be processing these events using imagination. Imagination is unlimited & you can travel anywhere in the speed of light, without any obstacles. Use imagination to create your future because it is a  powerful tool that we tend to forget about and rarely use as it was designed. When you know how to work with it, you can make your hearts' desires come true.

5. Imagination makes you wealthy

The highest paid people in the world get paid to think or to imagine. The creator of the idea or creator of imagination get paid more than people who will work to turn that idea into reality: Yes l am talking of Bill Gates, Jeff Bezo, Mark Zuckerberg. Are they not the one who came up with ideas?

However, too much idle daydreaming may make one impractical. Its good to imagine & then take calculative action in order to turn your imagination into reality. One of my role model Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution."

In conclusion: your favourite song, movie, soap, cellphone & tv show resulted from imagination. There are people  who are making life easier & generate wealthy for themselves using imagination. My question is are you using the power of imagination to be successful or you are using it to work against you. Genesis 11;6 says And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
